Sing 2 (Available on demand on Pay DirectTV and in theatres)
Hello my friends. This week I bring you Sing 2. Yes, I know he’s been out for a while. I’ve been floored by the dreaded virus and quarantined for over a week now and haven’t been able to make it to the cinema for a newer movie. But alas, fear not, because, folks, it’s a good one.
Picking up shortly after the end of the first, Sing 2 continues to follow the adventures of Buster Moon (voiced by Matthew McConaughey) and his fearless cast of performers voiced by Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, Taron Egerton, Tori Kelly and Nick Kroll, who slays him as Gunther the German Pig.
This outing finds our group of artists traveling to their version of Las Vegas with the aim of breaking into the big leagues and, of course, the crazy misadventures that plague them.
There are a few subplots, ranging from finding love to overcoming your fears and of course redemption. Sing 2 Truly has a bit of everything and a bit of something for everyone.
A scene that made me laugh so hard it caused a coughing fit, involves a gecko, a glass eye, and a floor cleaner who is about to tip over. I know it doesn’t make sense, but believe me, it’s very funny.
A wonderful side story involving a Salinger-like recluse of musical fame, voiced by U2’s Bono, rounds out this tale which is truly as fun as it gets. See this one – you won’t regret it.
I give that Sing 2 four out of five stars for excellent writing, genuine laughs, and its ability to make me forget how sick I was watching it.
